Mercer County New Jersey to Close Youth Detention Center in Ewing

Share In June 2011, Mercer County, New Jersey is planning to close the 80-bed Youth Detention Center in the city of Ewing. In 2008, the county was selected to participate in a pilot Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) with the state; by 2010, the county had reduced the average daily census at the center to only 19 youth on any given day.
