Specialty Behavioral Health Organizations Look To Expand Peer Supports
Large specialty behavioral health organizations (BHOs) in the United States are increasingly using peer support services as a component of a comprehensive approach to wellness and are interested in expanding use of these services. Peer support services are specialized therapeutic interactions conducted by self-identified current or former consumers of behavioral health services who have been trained to offer support to others in their recovery and community integration processes. BHOs are interested in offering peer support services where appropriate and feasible, but broader utilization will require systemic changes.
