35 Million People in Medicaid Managed Care Plans in 2010; An Increase of 4% Since 2009

In 2010, about 35 million people were estimated to be enrolled in a Medicaid managed care plan, about four percent more than the 33.6 million under Medicaid managed care in 2009. In 2010, about 66% of the 52.9 million Medicaid beneficiaries were enrolled in managed care programs. In 2009, about 70% of the 47.7 million Medicaid beneficiaries were enrolled in managed care programs. All but four states—Alaska, Mississippi, New Hampshire, and Wyoming—offer or require Medicaid beneficiaries to enroll in managed care programs. Alaska and Wyoming have no managed care; Mississippi offers a prepaid transportation plan . . .
