Pennsylvania Approves Highmark & West Penn Allegheny Affiliation To Create Integrated Delivery Network

On April 29, 2013, Highmark, a Pennsylvania health insurer, announced the creation of Allegheny Health Network, an integrated delivery care system created through an affiliation between Highmark and the hospitals and provider organizations in the West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS). Highmark had applied to the Pennsylvania Insurance Department (PID) in November 2011 for approval of the affiliation. PID granted its approval and final conditions on April 29, 2013.
