Hospitals Adopting InQuickER On-Line Emergency Department Reservation System to Ease Wait Times

Share Hospitals are beginning to use on-line emergency department reservation systems, such as InQuickER, to reduce patient wait times. The systems provide patients with non-life-threatening conditions an estimate of when they could be seen at a facility, and some systems are able to help emergency department staff identify patients with urgent care needs. The InQuickER system, which launched in 2006, is now in use by 45 facilities across 10 states. More than 10,000 patients have used InQuickER to receive a projected treatment time—essentially waiting on-line rather than physically waiting in the emergency department itself . . .
