GAO Report On 26 Different Federal Programs For Homelessness Programs Calls For Coordination
A federal review of coordination across 26 federal programs for homeless individuals operated by eight agencies found that many services were provided by multiple agencies for similar populations, leading the federal Government Accountability Office (GAO) to call for more coordination in the federal homelessness strategy. Of the 26 programs reviewed, 22 of the programs were operated by three agencies—the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
