Kindred Healthcare Completes RehabCare Group Acquisition
On June 1, 2011, Kindred Healthcare, Inc. announced it had completed an acquisition of RehabCare Group, Inc. The acquisition increased Kindred’s reach in 46 states. The combined company now operates 121 long-term acute care hospitals, 118 inpatient rehabilitation facilities (primarily hospital-based units), 224 nursing and rehabilitation centers, and provides rehabilitation therapy services through approximately 1,870 rehabilitation therapy contracts. Kindred has annual revenues of $6 billion. As of June 1, 2011, it provided health care services in over 2,000 locations. In 2009, RehabCare reported an operating revenue of $869 million.
