E-Prescribing in Use by 34% of Office-Based Prescribers
More than one-third of office-based prescribers in the United States are using e-prescribing systems to transmit prescriptions electronically to a patient’s preferred pharmacy, which translates to about 234,000 of the estimated 679,000 office-based prescribers. This group of prescribers used stand-alone e-prescribing software or an integrated e-prescribing function of an electronic health record (EHR) to route about 326 million patient prescriptions electronically to a pharmacy.
