New Fed Rules Mandate Minimum Wage & Overtime For Home Care Workers Effective January 1, 2015

On September 17, 2013, the federal Department of Labor (DOL) finalized rules to requiring organizations providing home care services to pay minimum wage to employees such as home health aides, personal care aides, and certified nursing assistants. The rules go into effect as of January 1, 2015. Approximately two million home care workers will be affected. In states with minimum wage or overtime statutes that exceed the federal minimum, the state standards will prevail.
