Veterans Affairs To Contract With Private Behavioral Health Organizations In Pilot Program
To reduce waiting lists for mental health services for veterans, the federal Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has been given authority to start a pilot program in which it contracts with civilian community behavioral health provider organizations. The VA will work with the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to establish at least 15 pilot sites in service areas where VA has faced challenges in hiring and placing mental health service providers.
