Between 2010 and 2011, the percentage of uninsured Americans dropped from 16.3% in 2010 to 15.7% in 2011. The number of people lacking health insurance decreased from 50.0 million to 48.6 million. The percentage of people with private health insurance remained essentially the same for both years at 63.9%, and about 197.3 million people.
