Ohio To Expand Medicaid Starting January 2014

Ohio is expanding Medicaid to low-income, uninsured adults beginning January 1, 2014. Despite political opposition, with the support of Ohio Governor John Kasich on September 26, 2013, the Ohio Medicaid director submitted a State Plan Amendment (SPA) seeking to extend Medicaid coverage. On October 10, 2013, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Ohio's SPA.
