Dauphin County, Pennsylvania Privatizes Schaffner Youth Center Shelter Services In Contract With Alternative Rehabilitation Communities
On September 26, 2012, the Dauphin County Commissioners in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania approved a contract with Alternative Rehabilitation Communities to privatize youth shelter services and operations of the county’s Shaffner Youth Center facility. Alternative Rehabilitation Communities will lease the Shaffner facility for $300,000 annually and provide shelter services for county youth. The center is currently staffed by county employees and managed by Cornell-Abraxas. The contract with Alternative Rehabilitation Communities starts January 1, 2013.
