Massachusetts To Pursue Capitated Three-Way Contract Model To Integrate Care for Dual Eligibles

On September 28, 2011, the Massachusetts Medicaid Director informed the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that the commonwealth planned to pursue a capitated three-way model that blends Medicare and Medicaid services and funding with state funding for other services not covered by Medicare or Medicaid to finance integrated care entities that will provide care for individuals between the ages of 21 and 64 who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. Massachusetts is participating in a 15-state demonstration planning project to integrate care for dual eligibles.
