Banyan Biomarkers Developing Device To Identify Traumatic Brain Injury

Banyan Biomarkers is developing a blood-based diagnostic test for traumatic brain injury (TBI). The test is based on biomarkers to detect specific proteins, with the diagnosis based on the presence and level of the specific blood proteins. In January 2011, Banyan Biomarkers started a trial with the device at the University of Florida and in November started recruiting for another trial. The trials are testing the relationship between the serum-based TBI biomarkers and clinical measures of injury severity, occurrence of complications, and outcome, in subjects with mild or moderate TBI.
