February 4, 2002 Nevada Mental Health Workers Face 5 Percent Pay Cut On March 4, 2002, about 150 Nevada employees in the state Division of Mental Health and Developmental Services who deal with potentially dangerous mental health patients and jail inmates, will see a 5 percent pay cut. This 5 percent of their salary is a bonus called "assaultive pay." The pay is given because some of the workers experience inmates who attack them, spit at them or throw things at them. According to a January 2002 article in the Reno Gazette Journal, the reduction affects workers at mental hospitals . . .
