February 14, 2000 UnitedHealthcare Sued For Taking Children's Hospital Off List A class action lawsuit has been filed against UnitedHealthcare by a group of policyholders for deleting ChildrenÂ’s Hospital from its network. Lawyers for the plaintiffs in the suit accused UnitedHealthcare of "bait and switch" tactics by removing ChildrenÂ’s Hospital, its sub-specialists, and its pediatricians from its provider network after most policies were purchased or renewed by the end of 1999. The insurance company informed parents of about 20,000 children insured under the program that ChildrenÂ’s Hospital was no longer part of its network . . .
