April 12, 2004 Maryland Non-Profits Provide Job Growth in State Maryland's nonprofit organizations continue to outpace the for-profit sector in job growth for the state. Nonprofit organizations added nearly 6,800 jobs in Maryland in 2002, a growth rate of 3.1%, according to the study by the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations (MANO) and the Johns Hopkins Center for Civil Society Studies. By comparison, for-profit employment declined by about one percent in 2002.
