April 18, 2005 Michigan Opens Office for Faith-Based Social Programs On March 14, 2005, Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm announced the creation of an office for faith-based social programs. The office will focus on youth crime, substance abuse, and parolee recidivism. The Office of Community and Faith-Based Initiatives will be directed by Greg Roberts.  The office will not allocate funding toward church groups, however, will allow faith-based groups to direct local residents to government programs and identify eligible recipients.
