April 22, 2002Dorothea Dix Wright Program Scheduled To CloseDorothea Dix Hospital's Wright Transitions Program is scheduled to close June 30, leaving the patients' home counties responsible for providing outpatient therapy. The program, aimed at helping mentally ill people merge back into society, is the latest to be impacted by the recent state-wide shift from state-run institutions to community-based mental health services.The current agreement calls for the money now spent on the Wright program to go to expand their programs to care for those patients.
