April 24, 2006 Congress May Establish a Disability Coordinator in the Department of Homeland Security The federal government is considering legislation to ensure that people with disabilities receive proper care before, during, and after a national disaster. The bill, HB 4704, was introduced February 7, 2006, and was referred to the House Small Business, and Transportation and Infrastructure committees. Representatives Jim Langevin of Rhode Island and Curt Weldon of Pennsylvania sponsored the bill.
