April 25, 2005 Maryland Legislature Passes Bill to Improve Early Detection Screening Practices of Autism On April 4, 2005, the Maryland House of Delegates and Senate passed a bill that would establish a three-year pilot program to improve early detection screening practices for autism. The pilot program would work with the state Department of Education in collaboration with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to train health care providers to better detect early symptoms of the condition.
