May 15, 2000 High Deductibles for Mental Health Services Leads to More LTD Claims Companies that offer employee health plans with high deductibles for mental health services had significantly more claims for long-term psychiatric disabilities than firms that offered lower deductibles, according to researchers at John Hopkins School of Public Health. The findings suggested that companies can reduce the incidence of long-term disability (LTD) claims by offering employees greater access to outpatient specialty care and offering alternative jobs to employees on disability leave.
