June 6, 2005 Health Care Employees Strike in Connecticut More than 1,000 Connecticut direct care workers went on strike June 1, 2005. Three social service agencies voted last week to reject their employers' latest contract proposals and send official strike notices setting the deadline of June 1. The combined vote totals for the three agencies were 548 to 16. Agreements were not reached before the deadline, so the workers from two of the agencies hit the picket line for two days.
