Massachusetts Developing Statewide Opioid Addiction Crisis Plan
On February 19, 2015, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker announced that the state was developing a statewide opioid addiction crisis plan, building on an initiative launched by former Governor Deval Patrick in 2014. Governor Baker announced the establishment of a 16-member Working Group and a call on insurers to more effectively manage opioid prescribing practices. By May 2015, the Working Group will submit a list of recommendations for reducing the opioid addiction rate.
