CBO Projects Health Care Reform Provisions Will Cost $142 Billion Less Than Predicted
On March 9, 2015, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) insurance provisions will cost the federal government $142 billion less than predicted by 2025. In the January 2015 baseline, the CBO projected that the net cost of the PPACA provisions would be $1.35 trillion. In the March 2015 baseline, the CBO projected the net cost at $1.21 trillion, a difference of $142 billion.
