June 25, 2001 Minnesota Announces Expansion of its SCHIP Program On June 13, 2001, Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura announced that the state will receive more than $9 million a year in new federal funding to expand health care coverage to more uninsured low-income children. The money will come from the federal State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).
