Interim Final Rule: Driving Distance Eligibility for the Veterans Choice Program
On April 24, 2015, the Veterans Administration announced it was changing the eligibility for the VA Choice Program to driving distance from VA health care facilities. Veterans with a drive of more than 40 miles to the nearest VA medical facility will be eligible to receive a VA Choice program voucher which will allow the veteran to obtain care from a civilian health care provider organization. Previously, eligibility was limited to veterans living more than a straight-line distance of 40 miles from the nearest VA medical facility . . .
