Implementing a Medicaid 1915 (i) Program for Adults with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness in Ohio

On May 6, 2015, the Ohio Department of Medicaid released a request for comments on its proposed plan for behavioral health redesign that calls for implementing a Medicaid 1915 (i) amendment to provide home-and community-based services (HCBS) for adults with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) with income up to 300% of the federal poverty level (FPL). The state estimates that from 4,000 to 6,000 individuals will meet the 1915(i) eligibility requirements. Comments on the proposed amendment will be accepted through June 6, and the proposal will be submitted for federal approval during June 2015 . . .
