South Carolina Taskforce Recommends Statewide Care Coordination Model For Adults With SMI
A behavioral health task force formed by the South Carolina Institute of Medicine & Public Health (IMPH) recommends that the state implement a statewide care coordination model for adults with serious mental illness (SMI), create a more accessible system of chronic care management, and enhance access to crisis stabilization services. The statewide care coordination model should offer home- and community-based care options, minimize unnecessary emergency department visits, law enforcement interventions, and inpatient hospitalizations.
