July 10, 2006 Young Caregivers Report Higher Proportion of Dementia Symptoms in Patients Young caregivers for people with dementia reported that 50% more of their patients exhibited neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia (NPS), such as wandering and episodes of unreasonable anger, than patients of older caregivers. High rates of NPS were also reported by caregivers who were depressed, less educated, or who provided high intensity care, or many hours of care.
