Feds Offer Florida Two-Year Extension Of Safety Net Hospital Funding

In a May 21, 2015 letter to the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) discussed options for the next two years regarding Low Income Pool (LIP) funds for safety-net hospitals. This is the latest development in negotiations between Florida and CMS over federal termination of the LIP program. In March 2015, Florida Governor Rick Scott announced plans to sue CMS to protest the federal policy change.
