July 19, 2004 McKnight Minnesota Children's Initiative Adds 12 Communities On June 15, 2004, the McKnight Foundation announced the selection of 12 communities that will join the work of 24 others as part of the Minnesota "Early Childhood Initiative." Funded in part by a $3.2 million grant from the McKnight Foundation, this initiative seeks to ensure that all young children in Minnesota have a healthy life of learning, achieving, and succeeding. Statewide, 36 communities have now been selected to participate in the Early Childhood Initiative based on each community's established local partnerships, existing early childhood education programs . . .
