September 1, 2003 HHS Awards $56.1 Million in Grants For the Low-Income & Uninsured The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded 204 grants worth $56.1 million that will provide health care services for low-income and uninsured Americans. The grants will create new service sites in the nation's network of health centers and expand the range of health care services offered at existing health centers. These grants were awarded on August 26, 2003. The awards include 79 "new access point" grants, totaling almost $43 million, to help communities establish new health center sites . . .
