September 30, 2002 Eastern State Hospital To Close Residential Treatment UnitCiting the recent budget shortfall, the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) announced on September 21, 2002 that it plans to close Eastern State Hospital's residential treatment unit. The plan to close the unit was developed after each state run facility was asked to reduce its budget by 7.5 percent.
