October 3, 2005 CMS Announces Release of Evaluation Version of EHR Software To Physicians In September 2005, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) announced it was releasing EHR software evaluation versions to physicians and vendors. The VistA-Office software is an adaptation of the Veterans Health Administration EHR technology. The adaptable software allows for evaluations of VistA-Office as well as assessing effectiveness in private physicians' offices.
