November 11, 2002 Collection of Child Support in the Increase, According to a New Census Report Forty-six percent of all custodial mothers in 1999 received all the child support payments due to them, an increase of almost 10% from 1993. In addition, the proportion of custodial mothers enrolled in the nation’s public assistance programs – of which 4 out of 5 are single parents – fell from 26% to 11% over the six-year 1993 to 1999 period studied. These are the findings of a U.S. Census Bureau report released on October 25, 2002, entitled, “Custodial Mothers and Father . . .
