November 13, 2006 Most Private Child Welfare Agencies Offer Post-Adoption Services More than 90% of private child welfare agencies surveyed offer post-adoption services but only half report that the services are funded through public contracts. For the half of agencies offering post-adoption services without public contract funding, funding sources include grants from foundations, federal funding through Temporary Aid to Needy Families, adoption incentive grants, adoption opportunities grants, Medicaid, state mental health funding, post-adoption special service subsidies, and other public agency grants. Nearly three-fourths (64 of a total of 95 responses) supported post-adoption services independently . . .
