Cornell Companies Closes South Dakota Facility

November 22, 2004 Cornell Companies Closes South Dakota Facility Cornell Companies, Inc., a correctional facility operator, announced October 29, 2004, that it has permanently closed the Plankinton Regional Detention Center facility in South Dakota. The 40-bed detention center in Plankinton (South Dakota) opened in May 2004 and closed in August 2004.  Cornell also will not open an 82-bed residential treatment center, which was scheduled to open at the same location in August 2004.
