On June 2, 2015, the Maryland Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) awarded $500,000 in total funding to eight Maryland counties to launch medication assisted treatment (MAT) reentry programs in local jails and detention centers. The counties will use the GOCCP funding to develop and implement programs that feature the use of Vivitrol, a monthly injection of naltrexone, a non-narcotic and non-addictive substance that blocks the euphoric effects of opioids and alcohol.
