Florida Foster Care Population Up 25% Since 2013

As of June 2015, there were 22,004 children in Florida’s foster care system, up 25% (4,413 children) from 2013 when there were 17,591 children in foster care placements. This is the highest number of children in Florida’s foster care system since 2008. As of March 2015, there were 21,139 children in the foster care system, with 11,371 Florida children in kinship care placements and another 9,768 in a licensed foster home.
