Personal Needs Allowance Increase For Illinois Adults With Developmental Disabilities Expires
On June 30, 2015, an increase to the personal needs allowance (PNA) for Illinois adults with developmental disabilities expired and the PNA reverted back to previous levels. About 16,000 people are affected.
The PNA comes from the person’s monthly Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment; the state uses the rest of the SSI payment to offset the cost of the person’s care.
