On July 6, 2015, Cigna sued a group of 11 ambulatory surgery centers and Surgical Center Development, Inc. alleging billing fraud related to a fee-forgiveness program to entice Cigna members to receive services at the facilities which were not part of the Cigna provider network. The lawsuit was filed in the Indiana Northern Federal District Court. No trial date has been set.

The lawsuit, Connecticut General Life Insurance Company et al v. Northwest Regional Surgery Center, LLC et al., makes the following allegations:

The defendants engaged in “dual pricing” and “fee forgiving” arrangements in which the surgical centers charged . . .
