Oklahoma Transitions Last Residents Of Southern Oklahoma Resource Center To Community Placements
On July 10, 2015, the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS) transitioned the last resident of the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center (SORC) to a community-based setting with supportive services. Following this transition, DDS closed SORC, as required by a directive of the Human Services Commission, the DHS governing body in November 2012. A sister facility affected by the same directive, the Northern Oklahoma Resource Center at Enid (NORCE), closed on November 17, 2014.
