Los Angeles County Children’s Services Workgroup Calls For Immediate Closure Of County Emergency Residential Shelter For Older Foster Youth
On June 1, 2015, the Los Angeles County Commission for Children and Families (CCF) Welcome Center Workgroup recommended that the county close its Youth Welcome Center, an emergency shelter for youth ages 12 to 21 in the child welfare system. The Workgroup said many youth stay longer than 24 hours awaiting placement, and the facility is not equipped for longer stays and does not provide behavioral health services.
