Youth Services International To Exit Florida Palm Beach Juvenile Detention Center Contract
On August 20, 2015, Youth Services International (YSI) announced it would exit its contract with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), which was for running the Palm Beach Juvenile Correctional Facility (PBJCF), a 118-bed residential facility for males ages 13 to 18. YSI plans to exit during January 2016. YSI has managed the facility since 2003. The decision to exit the contract comes amid allegations of abuse at the facility. A YSI spokesperson said ongoing operation of the PBJCF was not part of YSI's long-term strategic plan.
