OPEN MINDS’ Senior Associates will lead two focused, informative workshops prior to the official start of the institute
GETTYSBURG, Pa. (September 20, 2015) — OPEN MINDS announced two pre-institute workshops will be offered at The 2015 OPEN MINDS Technology & Informatics Institute. The institute, which will focus on the emerging technologies changing the management, financing, and delivery of care for consumers with complex needs, will be held in Washington, D.C. on October 27-28. The intensive pre-institute workshops, which will take place on October 26, will be led by two of OPEN MINDS’ senior associates.
- “How To Build A Successful Technology Plan: From Innovation & Strategy, To Budgeting & Selection,” led by OPEN MINDS Senior Associate Sharon Hicks
- “Optimizing Your Operations With Analytics, Performance Measurement & Metrics-Based Management,” led by OPEN MINDS Senior Associate Joe Naughton-Travers, Ed.M.
“Most management teams know that they need to incorporate some of the many emerging technologies into their organization’s service,” explains Monica E. Oss, chief executive officer of OPEN MINDS. “Our research at OPEN MINDS has identified what we refer to as the “four pillars of strategic tech success” that management teams need to consider in getting the leverage from tech investments. Two of these “pillars,” Technology In Sync With Strategy and On-Going “Operational” Management Of Technology, form the foundation for these two workshops.”
The workshop, “How To Build A Successful Technology Plan: From Innovation & Strategy, To Budgeting & Selection,” will cover the big challenge facing executives as they lead their organization on the path to a tech-driven future. The agenda includes discussions on developing a technology strategy, setting a budget, and applying these best practices to the selection of electronic health records, telehealth, and digital medicine. The goal of this workshop is to help executive teams prioritize their technology investments and make the best strategic decisions for their organizations.
The workshop will be led by Sharon Hicks, who has more than 20 years of experience in the health and human service field. Ms. Hicks has extensive experience and wide range of expertise in health plan management, clinical operations management, and technology.
The workshop, “Optimizing Your Operations With Analytics, Performance Measurement & Metrics-Based Management,” will explore the data and analytics that an organization needs in order to maximize performance. Attendees will also discuss the keys to metrics-based management. The goal of this workshop is to help executive teams learn how to incorporate their data and tools into the management of their organization in a meaningful way.
The workshop will be led by Joseph P. Naughton-Travers, Ed.M., who has more than 30 years of experience in the health and human service field – in both private and public sector delivery of behavioral health and social services. His primary areas of expertise include strategic planning and metrics-based management, electronic health record (EHR) and technology selection and implementation, operations improvement, and corporate compliance.
