Florida Governor’s Executive Order Expands Effort To Better Coordinate Public Mental Health

On September 9, 2015, Florida Governor Rick Scott issued an executive order intended to better coordinate the state’s public mental health system and streamline the $1.4 billion in state mental health spending across state agencies. The order expands an Executive Order issued in July 2015, which created a partnership between the Department of Corrections (DOC), Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to implement best management practices to improve state funded mental health services in Florida.
