41% Of Health Plans Sold Through The Health Insurance Marketplace Have Narrow Networks

In 2014, 41% of silver-level qualified health plans (QHPs) sold through the state and federal Health Insurance Marketplaces had narrow provider organization networks that included 25% or fewer of the physicians in the plan coverage area. Across the states, the percentage of silver-level QHPs in each state with narrow networks ranged from 83% in Georgia, to 13% in Idaho and North Carolina. In 12 states, there were no narrow network silver-level QHPs. Of the states with a one or more silver-level QHPs with a narrow network, in 10 states 60% or more plans had narrow networks . . .
