During 2014, 10.4% of people in the United States were uninsured, down from 13.3% in 2013. The number of uninsured people declined from 41.8 million in 2013, to 33.0 million in 2014. The uninsured rate of non-citizens was 31.2% in 2014, compared to 8.7% for people born in the United States.
